Vates type collards is a very high yielding leafy green. It is also disease and frost resistant and are slow to bolt. Collards are a member of the brassica/cabbage family, and its cultivation is similar. Best grown as a fall crop, time your collards to harvest around first frost. Dark green, slick and crumpled leaves on vigorous spreading plant.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS: Sow seeds in well-drained soil in a sunny location. These will tolerate some shade but they prefer sun and cool weather; so, they are an excellent choice for fall gardening. Sow 1/4-1/2" deep and space plants 12-24" apart, depending on what size heads you want. Allow 2-3' between rows.
